For my music dissertation, I wanted to show that "musical sound" had a measureable quantitative effect on a "biological system". I chose to use a seed germination model to measure and monitor effects of musical sound, pink noise, silence, and enegy healing.

I did find a statistically "highly significant" effect when comparing "musical sound" to "no sound". More seeds sprouted and they sprouted faster. This was replicable over 5 experiments. I also found that “musical sound” versus “noise” & “no sound” over time had a “significant” effect.

The results were published in my Music Dissertation "Effects of Musical Sound on the Germination of Seeds", and in a medline journal article titled "Measuring effects of music, noise, and healing energy using a seed germination bioassay". Both papers are available by clicking on the linked titles.
